VERINA Implements Innovative Direct Sensing Remedial Investigation Tool

August 04, 2017

Verina Consulting Group, LLC (VERINA), recently deployed a cutting edge direct-sensing investigation technology at pone of the UST portfolio sites in Paterson, New Jersey.  The technology, the Optical Image Profiler (OIP), is a powerful direct-sensing tool capable of detecting and logging UV induced hydrocarbon fluorescence in the subsurface. As the OIP tool is advanced through the subsurface, images are captured every .05 ft. and analyzed for fluorescence in real time.  This investigation tool can quickly and easily screen the subsurface for the presence of fuel hydrocarbons and can assess if the quantities of hydrocarbons are representative of non-aqueous phase liquid (NAPL) and do so at a production rate much greater than that of conventional borings and soil sampling.

“With our partner firm, S2C2, Inc. (Raritan, New Jersey), we are very pleased to deploy this cutting edge approach to conduct site investigations.”, said Michael A. Hansen, P.E., Senior Engineer of VERINA.  “Technical innovation is a key part of our corporate culture, and we look forward to using this tool to help serve our clients interests.”
